What Lies in the Woods (2019)

This film follows a naive couple: a young student, Emilia, and her older partner, Greg, who also happens to be her figure drawing professor. They decide to retreat from the city to Greg’s remote vacation house for a weekend in the winter. Through the duration of their stay, Emilia begins to realize she doesn’t really
know this man. Their relationship had been built on the “forbidden” nature of the act. This is what was driving it, not the actual connection between them. Once they leave the environment in which their relationship started, it becomes strained and uncomfortable. The film does not focus on the idea that Greg is the “villain.” Rather, it focuses on Emilia’s realization and growth out of her naive fantasy.
